Hawaiian native plants are dying at an astonishing rate — Hawaii is known as the Extinction Capital of the World. Author Lucinda Fleeson shows us what it takes — sweat, tears and Herculean persistence — to try to preserve one of our most threatened natural environments. In this talk, Fleeson shares some of the hidden history of Allerton Garden on Kauai, as well as its evolution into part of a national center for plant conservation.

Ms. Fleeson's book, Waking Up in Eden: In Pursuit of an Impassioned Life on an Imperiled Island will be available for purchase and signing following the lecture.
